Chiropractic Care

We provide advanced spinal correction and chiropractic adjustments utilizing "state of the art" chiropractic techniques. Never in the history of chiropractic care have chiropractors been able to provide the level of help and expertise that is available today. Many of the newest chiropractic techniques are actually safer, more comfortable and more effective than ever before. As a chiropractor who cares about utilizing the most advanced chiropractic techniques, Dr. Melissa Kisla has years of training, expertise and experience in helping patients get pain relief for back pain, neck pain, headaches, and other related conditions originating from the spine. Chiropractic care under a trained professional can even be used to prevent injuries and help you achieve total health or wellness. Learn more here about our Chiropractors.

Corrective Exercises

At Tri-County Chiropractic of Douglassville, we teach our patients how to perform special "blueprint" exercises which can help strengthen and correct the irregularities in their body which may be causing pain. Many of these corrective exercises can actually be performed in the comfort of your own home to help improve the effectiveness of your chiropractic care and spinal correction plan. In addition to skeletal misalignment, you may be experiencing pain that is caused by muscles and connective tissues which are out of their proper place. Other types of pain such as back pain, neck pain, and headaches are caused by muscles and tissues that are being used improperly, causing injuries over time. In each case, targeted corrective exercises and stretches from our experienced chiropractor will help you feel good while also helping your body achieve balance and health.

Lifestyle Advice

Many of our patients come to see our chiropractor to address a specific pain symptom such as back pain, neck pain or headaches. While our chiropractor will address each patient's specific condition with chiropractic care, we often find it helpful to "coach" our patients towards achieving a healthier lifestyle. For example, there may be certain activities that you should avoid or do differently to prevent yourself from unintentionally aggravating your particular health challenges. The goal of including lifestyle advice with a chiropractic care plan is to help each and every patient achieve the fulfilling and happy lifestyle they deserve, one that is full of the activities that are enjoyed most. We recognize that every single one of our patients is a whole person, and we use our expertise to help them reach total health and wellness.

Nutritional Counseling

What does nutrition have to do with chiropractic care? The goal of chiropractic care is to help patients achieve total health and balance with their body, and as part of that goal, we provide specific recommendations on nutritional supplements and healthy food choices. Nutritional counseling by our experienced chiropractic health professionals can assist a patient in their return to optimal health. Do you know which supplements and vitamins are good for you? Do you know how these supplements and vitamins interact with one another? At our Douglassville chiropractic clinic, we can provide each patient with a structured nutritional program that is based on their individual needs.

Massage Therapy

Massage therapy does more than make you feel good, it can actually help your body achieve balance and health. Massage therapy offers a natural treatment approach which actually relieves musculoskeletal pain for many patients. Our chiropractic office provides specific massage and muscular therapy that is complementary to their chiropractic care. Each massage therapy plan is tailored to meet the patient's unique pain condition or injury. The benefits of massage therapy may include the increase of blood circulation, a localized reduction in swelling and the relaxation of muscles. Massage has been known to relieve muscle pain and spasms, increase a patient's range of motion, while also aiding in a patient's recovery. Some investigative studies have even indicated that a single session of massage may help boost your immune system!

Aromatherapy– The use of oils (extracted from roots, resins, woods, flowers, and herbs). The oils are combined together in a carrier oil, such as almond or jojoba, and are used during the Massage. Each oil has its own characteristics and benefits and is chosen and combined to meet each individuals specific needs.

*Some of the most commonly used essential oils are: Lavender, Eucalyptus, Lemongrass, Clary Sage, Chamomile, Cedarwood, and Clove.

Deep Tissue Massage– This is a technique similar to Swedish Massage. It requires deeper pressure and focuses on the deepest layers of muscle tissue, tendons, and fascia. Deep Tissue Massage works to break down adhesions (bands of rigid, painful tissue) to relieve pain and restore normal movement.

Sports Massage-This particular style of massage is geared toward world-class athletes as well as recreational activity participants. Sports massage focuses on the areas of the body that are stressed and overused from repetitive and aggressive movements. Sports massage often includes the use of PNF Stretching. PNF stands for “Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation and is a series of active and passive stretching techniques that can optimize motor performance and rehabilitation.

Hot Stone Massage– A variation on classic massage therapy! Basalt stones are most typically used in hot stone massage. They are naturally smooth from river currents and are rich in iron, so they retain heat! The stones may be placed on key points of the body or the therapist may hold them in their hands and massage certain parts of the body. The stones are warm and relax superficial muscle tissue which allows the therapist to apply deeper tissue if desired. Hot Stone Massage is great for general warming and relaxation but is also beneficial for back pain, poor circulation, stress, insomnia, and depression.

Pregnancy Massage– A term applied to prenatal or postnatal massage.  A prenatal massage is generally 60 minutes in length and consists of long flowing strokes with light pressure. Deep pressure on the low back and abdomen is contraindicated. Some prenatal massage is performed on a specially made table while other therapists prefer to use pillows and other cushioned wedges to support the client in a comfortable position.

Pregnancy Massage assists in the reduction of low back pain, edema, leg cramps, headaches, stress, and anxiety. This type of massage encourages blood and lymph circulation and promotes overall better health for Mother and Child.

Neuromuscular Therapy-  This form of soft tissue manipulation aims to treat underlying chronic pain. This medically oriented form of massage focuses on trigger points (tender points in the muscle tissue), circulation, nerve compression, postural issues and biochemical problems caused by repetitive stress.

Chair Massage-This seated form of massage therapy consists of 15-20 minutes sessions focusing on neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands.

Reflexology– Based on the concept that reflex points on the hands and feet correspond to areas/organs of the body. By applying pressure to these reflex points the practitioner can help to promote health in the corresponding organs through energetic pathways. People use reflexology for headaches, fertility problems, stress and digestive disorders.

Cupping Therapy– This ancient form of alternative Chinese medicine applies local suction to the skin mobilizing blood flow and promoting healing. Cupping promotes pain relief, loosens muscles, and improves energy flow and reduces symptoms associated with fibromyalgia.

Note– Cupping Therapy is NOT an appropriate form of treatment for all health conditions so please consult with your physician before scheduling your cupping treatment.
